The Godfrey Reggio-directed film is a wordless journey that explores the confrontation between modern urbanization and the beauty of the natural world that is slowly being left behind.

Consisting mainly of slow motion and time lapse footage, Koyaanisqatsi was the first of a critically acclaimed trilogy that shows humanity’s impact on the Earth through images alone. Glass’s score for the film is one of the great masterpieces of the 1980s, a vast minimalist work with synthesizers, deep male voices and horns.
